Description: Aadi Shankarar was a great Indian saint and philosopher who lived more than 1,200 years ago. He was born in a village called Kalady in Kerala. Even as a child, he was very wise and interested in spiritual knowledge. He traveled all over India by foot, spreading the message of Advaita Vedanta, which teaches that the soul (Atman) and God (Brahman) are one and the same. He wrote many important texts and explained deep ideas in simple ways. He also established four mathas (spiritual centers) in different parts of India. Aadi Shankarar helped bring back the importance of Hinduism during a time of confusion. His teachings continue to guide millions even today.
