Founder & CEO
Jayanthi Raghuraman hails from a traditional South Indian Brahmin family in the Kaveri River delta village of Ganapathy Agraharam in Kumbakonam. Though she lost her mother at a young age, she was raised by her father, Mr. Kailasanathan. She married Mr. Raghuraman, a renowned Thambura artist and musician in Chennai. Her husband's family was devoted to Sri Mahaperiyava Jagadguru Shri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Swamigal. Despite their poor socio-economic background, Jayanthi and her husband worked tirelessly at various small businesses to provide their 3 children with the education they deserved.
Moment of Inspiration
She observed that cultural values and traditions among newer generations were gradually shifting. As such, she and her family sought to preserve their rich cultural heritage across the globe through the Golu dolls initiative. Coming from a traditional background and having set up Golu displays for three generations; she had difficulty finding high-quality dolls from a single source. Over 20 years, she personally visited over 22 manufacturers to procure the best dolls at reasonable prices. Gradually, she aimed to establish a single hub to offer the finest dolls from these manufacturers (who had limited means to reach more customers online and offline) and deliver them to doorsteps domestically and internationally.
Notable Success
Her venture is now expanding internationally and has also begun sponsoring global events. For example, she sponsored gifts for the judges of the “Global Golu Competition” organized by Sapthavarna Creations in 2021 & 2022 in London. Her company was also featured on an English radio program.
Co-founder
Renuka overcame a difficult childhood to become a successful entrepreneur. Born in Sikkil, India, Renuga lost her mother at a young age and, as the eldest in her family, took on the responsibility of raising her sister. Despite being unable to complete her formal education, Renuga was deeply connected to her cultural heritage. Early in her career, Renuga worked as a teacher while raising three daughters on her own. In 1990, she founded “Aa... Poorna”, a catering service. Over the next several years, “Aa... Poorna” served meals at more than 100 weddings and events, highlighting Renuga’s culinary talents. Through determination and perseverance in the face of adversity, Renuga built a successful business and provided for her family.
Moment of Inspiration
She aims to pass on values and cultural traditions to future generations. Joining forces with Jayanthi Raghuraman, she launched this initiative. She is now collaborating with various artisans, providing them modest support and working to gain global recognition for their craft.
